For String Quartet
Taking its inspiration from the hot summers
days, when people gather to talk in the shade and talk, this piece aims to give
a glimpse into one of these conversations. The melodic lines distinctly imitate
the contour of human speech, with inflections and gasps. The performers in the
quartet take on their roles- dialoguing between each other for the first part of
the piece. The following contrasting section explores more sustained string
sonorities, after which there is a return of the opening material.
